
Oxford Economics was founded in 1981 to provide independent forecasting and analysis tailored to the needs of policy-makers and business. It is now one of the world’s leading providers of economic advice, with over 300 clients including international organisations (such as the Asian Development Bank, IMF and World Bank), government departments across the world, central banks as well as a large number of blue-chip companies across the whole industrial spectrum.
Oxford Economics offers consultancy across a broad span of economic issues and commands a high degree of professional and technical expertise, both in its own staff (located in Oxford, London, Belfast, Singapore, Dubai, Philadelphia and Paris) and through its close links with Oxford University and a range of global partner institutions.
Its consultancy arm undertakes a range of studies in areas as diverse as costs and benefits of carbon capture schemes, the economics of international tourism, the economic impacts of carbon trading on the global economy and the social costs of crime.
Andrew Tessler
Andrew Tessler is an Australian who joined Oxford Economics in July 2007 from Booz Allen Hamilton, Australia (now Booz & Co). He has some thirteen years experience as an economist, including four years at the New South Wales Treasury and seven at Booz Allen in Sydney.
Andrew’s work has covered a diverse range of sectors including the environment, infrastructure, regulation and defence. His experience includes cost-benefit analyses, economic impact assessments, valuations, rate of return studies and program reviews.
Previous projects have included: an analysis of economic and environmental costs and benefits of the proposed Sydney Light Rail extension, advice on the treatment of environmental values in economic appraisal methodology, a review of the economic and environmental costs and benefits of the M4 East motorway, analysis of the service delivery and cost implications of technology in remote areas and various assessments of the economic and environmental benefits of freight rail haulage.
Andrew undertook a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree at the University of Sydney, where he majored in Economics and Government, gaining first class honours. He trained in environmental cost-benefit analysis at the University of New South Wales, where he obtained a Master of Commerce (Econometrics and Marketing). He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Transport Management (Economics) from the University of Sydney, where he trained in tourism economics, is a past joint winner of the AC Nielsen (Australia) prize in Market Research and is currently studying towards a Graduate Diploma in Finance and Investment.
Andrew is a member of the Economic Society of Australia and of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
