Working Groups

Implementation of the Framework is essential to achieving the Vision of a resilient Reef in the face of climate change. With this goal in mind, the International Scientific Advisory Committee has assembled two expert Working Groups focussed on central components of the Framework to provide impetus to its work. Experts from a broad spectrum of fields join together in these Working Groups to identify gaps in knowledge and scope required research for funding.

Attributes of a Sustainable Reef Working Group

Attributes Working Group and the Research FrameworkThis Working Group is developing a list of key attributes of a reef that is biophysically, socially and economically viable in the face of climate change. With this knowledge in hand, the sustainability of all coral reefs can be assessed to determine their resilience to climate change.

Solutions and Adaptations Working Group

Solutions and Adaptations Working Group and the FrameworkA key step in acheiving the Vision is the identification of mechanisms by which reefs adapt to climate change, as well as implementation of innovative solutions (biophysical, social and economic) to combat the impacts/threats of climate change. The expertise brought together on this Working Group is diverse and represents a unique and ground-breaking approach to dealing with the threat of climate change on coral reefs.
