A new Reef-inspired swimwear collection will contribute much-needed funds to support the Great Barrier Reef.

We’re excited to announce our collaboration with Australian swimwear designer We Are Handsome and YOOX, the world’s leading online lifestyle store for fashion, design and art, which will see a portion of sale proceeds donated to the Foundation in support of projects that go to the heart of protecting and restoring the Reef.

Selected for their distinct Australian aesthetic and vibrant, uplifting approach to swim and activewear, the label’s design duo, Jeremy and Katinka Somers, drew inspiration from the Great Barrier Reef’s ecosystem. The six-piece capsule collection features two one-piece styles, two bikinis, leggings and a tee in an exclusive print that celebrates the natural beauty surrounding the Reef. 

Working on this campaign has been a fantastic experience for us to contribute to a cause that is so close to our hearts.

We Are Handsome’s colourful swim and gym wear have already gained favour with fashionable celebrities including Beyonce, Rita Ora, Tyra Banks and Iggy Azalea.

The striking new designs are available exclusively on the socially and environmentally responsible YOOXGEN site of the Italian-headquartered online fashion giant YOOX.

The shoot for the collaboration was undertaken in the Whitsundays on the Great Barrier Reef

The project has come to life on YOOXYGEN, YOOX’s socially and environmentally responsible destination, on the same day as the launch of YOOX’s partnership with The New School’s Parsons School of Design - a partnership that will promote sustainable fashion practices through education and collaborations.

YOOX has long supported charitable initiatives around the globe, particularly with YOOXYGEN, which has since 2009 led the way in eco-commerce with projects aimed at raising awareness towards responsible choices in fashion.

EVP Marketing YOOX, Miguel Ares, says of the charity initiative: “Supporting conscious fashion has been an innate characteristic of YOOXYGEN, which debuted online exactly eight years ago from a smart and forward-thinking idea of YOOX’s founder, Federico Marchetti.
