Phillip Strachan is a seasoned business leader and company director with more than three decades of experience in executive and governance roles across the resources, utilities and infrastructure sectors.

Phillip spent 35 years with the Rio Tinto Group, holding senior finance and leadership positions in London, Melbourne and Jakarta. He served as Chief Financial Officer of Rio Tinto Aluminium for six years in Brisbane before moving to Montreal to take on the same role for a further seven years. He later became President and CEO of Rio Tinto’s Bauxite and Alumina Global Business Unit, a position he held until his retirement in 2016.

He is currently a Director of Urban Utilities, Chair of Grenof Water Technologies, Chair of Aula Energy, and Chair of the Advisory Board of Arkhefield. Phillip also serves as a Council Member of the University of the Sunshine Coast, where he sits on the Audit and Risk Management Committee and is Deputy Chair of the Planning and Resources Committee.

A former Chair of Queensland Rail and Director of Tilt Renewables, Phillip continues to apply his strategic and financial expertise to organisations driving sustainable growth.
